BBC Sport is launching a new TV ad campaign to promote its multimedia services featuring sports presenter Gary Lineker wearing more than 80 football shirts.
The 30-second clip, which debuts tonight across BBC’s platforms, shows the Match of the Day presenter Lineker pulling on each football jersey in a spoof of the famous YouTube clip of the Guinness World Record attempt for most T-shirts worn at one time.
Among expressing the BBC’s support of the game, the ad highlights the Match of the Day TV programme, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Online, mobile and red button services.
The BBC’s live TV coverage suffered a blow last year when ITV and Setanta offered up £425m over four years to show all FA Cup and England competitive home internationals.
BBC Sport still has the rights to Premier League highlights for Match of the Day and will show Carling Cup and Championship matches next year, but will not show a major event until the 2010 World Cup in South Africa under existing rights deals.
