The British & Irish Lions have partnered with wearable technology company WHOOP, which has been announced as an official supplier for the Qatar Airways Lions Men’s Tour to Australia 2025.

As part of the partnership, all Lions players, performance staff, and backroom team members have been equipped with WHOOP 5.0 wearable technology. The technology provides continuous, real-time insights to help them optimise recovery, mitigate the impact of jet-lag, and track key health metrics throughout the Tour and the crucial preparation period ahead.

The WHOOP platform consists of a wearable and a companion mobile app, designed for 24/7 use. It tracks key health and fitness metrics including Recovery, Heart Rate Variability, Resting Heart Rate, Sleep Performance, and more.

With the Tour heading to Australia and its unique travel and environmental challenges, WHOOP will work closely with the Lions performance team to help manage the effects of long-haul travel by using data-led strategies to support player adjustment and optimise performance on arrival.

In addition to WHOOP 5.0 devices and access to the WHOOP Unite platform, the Lions touring party will also receive a range of WHOOP accessories — including additional bands, WHOOP Body garments, and WHOOP Sleep Masks — further enhancing the integration of wearable technology into the day-to-day routine of the squad.

Dan Tobin, Strength and Conditioning Coach at The British & Irish Lions, said, “Performance, preparation, and player welfare sit at the heart of a successful Lions Tour.

“This partnership with WHOOP ensures our players and staff have access to world-class technology and data to support them every step of the way. We’re delighted to welcome WHOOP to the Lions family.”

Briain Curtin, VP of Global Marketing at WHOOP, added, “We’re proud to support The British & Irish Lions, one of the most iconic teams in global sport, with our latest technology as they take on this demanding Tour.

“WHOOP is designed to empower individuals with actionable insights into their health, lifestyle and physiology, which will be hugely beneficial to not only the players but also the wider organisation as they travel to Australia for this Series.”
