talkSPORT achieved over 3 million listeners according to industry figures released by RAJAR on Thursday, with the station’s live football commentary on Saturday afternoons providing a 32% increase in listeners from the previous quarter.
Meanwhile its live Sunday afternoon football saw a 4.5% quarter on quarter increase. This quarter saw talkSPORT add FA Cup, England international and Capital One Cup commentaries to its live sport offering for the first time.
The official industry figures cover the fourth quarter of the year from 17th September to 16th December 2012 during which the station broadcast 35 live commentaries of Champions League, England, Barclays Premier League, FA Cup and Capital One Cup matches.
Post match phone-in shows also saw an increase in listeners from the previous quarter with Call Collymore on a Saturday achieving an 19% uplift.
talkSPORT now reaches 2.5million men (81% of the total audience) and 56% of the total audience are ABC1.

The station’s website talkSPORT.co.uk continued to reach large numbers of readers and listeners with 2 million unique users and 13.8 million page impressions in December.
