Liverpool have agreed a British transfer record fee of £125m to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in September.
The deal could rise to £130m with add-ons, and the Sweden international has been undergoing a medical before completing a six-year contract.
Liverpool had previously made an offer of £110m in August that had been rejected. The signing has come on the final day of the transfer window and has followed Newcastle having signed striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart earlier in the summer.
Isak’s move has come shortly after Liverpool signed Germany international Florian Wirtz in a deal worth an initial £100m, with a further £16m in add-ons. The club has also brought in Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi and Giovanni Leoni. Excluding add-ons, Liverpool’s spending in the 2025 summer transfer window has reached £416.2m — the highest total in Premier League history.
It has been only the second time an English club has spent more than £400m in a single summer, following Chelsea’s £401.2m outlay in 2023. Liverpool have also been working on a deal to sign England defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.
Blackpool FC have confirmed Drinkaware as its official short sponsor for the 2025/26 season.
The BeDrinkaware.co.uk branding has been scheduled to appear on the men’s first-team shorts and around Bloomfield Road for the first time in the fixture against Bolton Wanderers.
Drinkaware is a UK-based alcohol charity focused on reducing alcohol-related harm through evidence-based information, advice, resources and partnerships. The organisation has worked with a range of football clubs and governing bodies in recent years as part of its wider efforts to promote responsible drinking across the UK.
The partnership with Blackpool FC has reflected a continued trend of health-related charities collaborating with football clubs to increase awareness and visibility among supporters.
Martin Booker Head of Sponsorship and Partnerships at Blackpool said, “This is more than just sponsorship and Blackpool FC and our Community Trust are looking forward to working with this national charity on this initiative.
“As well as raising the profile of the organisation via the short sponsorship they are keen to activate the partnership in the local community working collaboratively with the Community Trust across a number of initiatives.”
Harry Redknapp has supported a sepsis awareness campaign for the UK Sepsis Trust following his wife Sandra’s survival of the condition in 2018
The campaign, It’s Game On For Sepsis, has featured an online game called Sepsis Savvy Shootout, which has given participants the chance to enter a prize draw to meet Redknapp. The draw has been scheduled to close on September 30, but the game has remained available on the charity’s website as an educational resource.
The UK Sepsis Trust has reported that sepsis has affected around 245,000 people each year in the UK and that approximately 48,000 lives have been lost annually to the condition.
The NHS has defined sepsis as occurring when the body’s immune system overreacts to an infection and begins to damage its own tissues and organs.
