Liverpool FC have become the latest Premier League club to partner with Women in Football (WIF), joining its Club Membership programme.
The partnership will see the two organisations create a bespoke package of opportunities to build on the club’s existing work to support equality through its Red Together programme. The services include group workshops, access to industry insights, group coaching, mentoring, and places on the Women in Football Leadership Course for the club’s female workforce.
The move comes a week after WIF’s annual survey reported that 78% of women working in the football industry had experienced discrimination in the workplace. The Premier League champions join fellow Premier League clubs Arsenal, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Manchester City and Newcastle United in the programme.
April Tomlinson, Senior Vice President People and Culture, Liverpool FC, said, “We’re delighted to join Women in Football’s club membership programme and offer this opportunity to our female workforce. This is a great opportunity for our people. We’re proud of the work we already do through our Red Together strategy and pleased we can build on this with Women in Football’s support and mentoring. Red Together is our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and encompasses everything we do internally and externally.”
Yvonne Harrison, CEO, Women in Football, said, “I’d like to extend a very warm welcome to the Premier League champions. Having a club of Liverpool’s stature among our club members demonstrates the importance of Women in Football’s work, as well as our growing influence in the game.
“It’s great news for the club and its workforce and we are delighted we can add value to their existing work in building a great environment for their team to thrive. We know organisations perform at their best when their culture is as inclusive as possible, and we’re looking forward to supporting Liverpool to become the most gender-equal employer they can be.”
