Premier League club Liverpool has secured a three-year sponsorship deal with Turespaña, the Spain Tourism Board, which becomes the club’s official destination partner.
The club has fielded a number of Spanish players since manager Rafa Benitez took the helm, including current striker Fernando Torres, and the deal aims to give Turespaña exposure & engagement opportunities with the clubs global fanbase.
Liverpool plans to activate the partnership through a creative programme for fans that give them an experience of Spain.
‘We are developing an integrated sport marketing strategy worldwide to capitalise on the large amount of Spanish players that are world icons in many sports like football, tennis, basketball and racing,’ said Turespaña’s head of marketing and communications, Enrique Ruiz de Lera.
‘Liverpool Football Club, as the English Premier League club with the best Spanish connection was an obvious choice for us and we look forward to a long-term partnership that will allow us to talk to the huge LFC fan base, especially in UK and Asia.’
The travel and tourism sector entered the top ten sponsoring industries last year for the first time according to research from The Worldwide Sponsorship Monitor.
