Liverpool is to launch a new seven day a week subscription channel at the start
of next season, matching similar ventures by Premiership rivals Manchester
United and Chelsea.
Rick Parry, Liverpool FC chief executive, said: “We are very
excited about the prospect of the club channel, which could be a great addition
to the coverage that we already provide for our supporters through our website,
mobile services and print media.”
The club is seeking a professional
presenter for the channel and a team of 20 full-time staff including engineers,
directors, producers, researchers, graphic designers and technical operators,
all of whom will be based at a purpose-built production centre in the
city.
Parry said: “We would like to be able to say more to fans at this
stage as to how they will be able to get the new channel but, at the moment,
discussions with broadcasters are ongoing and there are a number of details
still to be worked out.”
