Digital agency LiveWire Sport has appointed former World Rugby head of social media Tom Chick as its new head of strategy.
Chick has been working as a consultant for the agency since 2015 but has taken on a key role in helping LiveWire to deliver its consultancy services for sports organisations.
He has already contributed on major projects for a number of LiveWire Sport clients, including the British & Irish Lions, DHL, ATP, European Athletics, International Tennis Federation and Chelsea Football Club.
Chick previously spent seven years managing World Rugby’s social media channels, campaigns and strategies and working across all of their digital platforms, including its award-winning 2015 Rugby World Cup coverage and rugby sevens’ successful debut at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
He left World Rugby and established his own agency – Wired Social – working with a number of global sports organisations and brands including HSBC, UEFA and Google.
Chick said: “I’m delighted to take up this new role with LiveWire. They have an exceptional array of major clients and possess some of the most creative and innovative people in the industry.
“Having previously worked with them during my time with World Rugby, I’m relishing the opportunity to lead their digital strategy and drive further growth for the business.”
LiveWire Sport director Andy McKenzie added: “We’re very excited that Tom will be taking on this hugely important role. Tom has an in-depth knowledge and passion for digital sport and we have already seen what a huge asset he is with the work he has done for some of our key clients.
“We’re looking forward to him helping us to continue to develop the services we provide to the global sports industry.”
