BP has been announced as London 2017’s latest national partner for the World Para Athletics Championships.
The Championships, along with the IAAF World Championships London 2017 that follow from 4th – 13th August, together celebrate the Summer of World Athletics, with more than 3,000 athletes from over 200 nations set to compete.
BP has been supporting the Paralympic movement since July 2008, when it became the Official Oil and Gas Partner for the London 2012 Paralympic Games, and has supported 12 different National Paralympic Committees to date and more than 30 elite Paralympic athletes. The brand signed a partner of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) in 2013 and has supported a number of national Paralympic committees and Paralympians.
Niels de Vos, championship director said of the deal: “Securing such a major multinational as BP is great news for us. We are aware of their support for the Paralympic movement and we are delighted that they have agreed to extend this to support to the World Para Athletics Championships London 2017.”
Duncan Blake, BP’s global brand director said: “BP was one of the first major brands to support the global Paralympic movement. The energy within Para sport is truly inspirational, and being involved in this world class Para sporting event at the venue of the London 2012 Paralympic Games brings us back to where our support began. We supported the last World Para Athletics Championships in Doha 2015 and we look forward to another summer of exciting, inspiring and daring Para sport.”
BP’s National Partnership of the World Para Athletics Championships was brokered and contracted by the rights marketing team at The Sports Consultancy. The Sports Consultancy – shortlisted for Agency of the Year at the BT Sport Industry Awards 2017 – is working with London 2017 Ltd to secure national partners and suppliers.
