Team Lotus has decided to scrap its plans for a black and gold livery in 2011 according to team boss Tony Fernandes.??
The move comes as Group Lotus, not to be confused with Fernandes’ Team Lotus, agreed a new deal to take over the Renault F1 team and unveiled a black and gold Lotus car next year.??
Therefore, Fernandes revealed that Team Lotus has scrapped its plan to revert to the John Player Special inspired livery for next year.
??’Having two Lotus brands on the grid is no issue. Having four black cars looking the same I think is silly and one has to relent,’ said Fernandes.??
‘We’re not childish and emotional and saying ‘Oh no, we’ve got to be black and gold’. We’re pragmatic,’ he added.
Fernandes also revealed that some fans of Team Lotus were against the idea of moving away from its traditional racing green colours.
??Fernandes also vowed to push ahead with legal action to take the Lotus name, meaning the dispute is likely to now be settled in the London High Court sometime next year.
