Soft drinks company Lucozade Ribena Suntory has announced its support of the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, in a two year deal to help expand the charity’s work with disadvantaged young people across the country.

The Dame Kelly Holmes Trust is a national charity supporting disadvantaged young people through mentoring programmes led by athletes.

Mentors include Olympians, Paralympians and other top international athletes. According to the charity, for every one athlete mentor, just under 800 young people are impacted on.

Double Olympic champion and chair of the Trust, Dame Kelly Holmes, said: “My charity’s core focus is supporting young people who are not in employment, education or training, and so far 70% of those taking part in the Trust’s flagship Get On Track programme have moved into work, training or education within five months.

“This is something we’re immensely proud of, and so I’m absolutely thrilled that Lucozade Ribena Suntory will be supporting us to make even more of an impact across the country in the years to come. It’s great to work with partners who share that vision in supporting young people and making lasting change.”

Peter Harding, chief operating officer, Lucozade Ribena Suntory added: “We are proud to be a partner of the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust and fully recognise and support the work they do to help disadvantaged young people to achieve their goals.  All of our employees are inspired by our Yatte Minahare spirit which enables us to go for it and create positive change, and with this spirit we are passionate about enabling young people to reach their potential and grow for good.”

Lucozade Ribena Suntory’s support is part of its overall global commitment to “Growing for Good in Harmony with People and Nature.”

As part of this partnership, Lucozade Ribena Suntory will also be supporting young people with gaining skills to help them be more work-ready, and to improve their chances of moving into employment, education or training in the communities they work in.

Lucozade Ribena Suntory will also be calling on staff to engage with fundraising and volunteering across its sites in Coleford in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire and Uxbridge, alongside the young people programme delivery.
