Manchester City chief executive Alistair Mackintosh has surprisingly left the club by mutual consent.
Mackintosh’s decision to step down is the latest in a line of top-level reshuffles at the Premier League club.
The move comes just a few days after Thaksin Shinawatra named Mark Hughes as the club’s new manager after unceremoniously ending the one-year reign of Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Mackintosh’s future had been in doubt ever since the arrival of executive chairman Garry Cook and he was notably absent from the negotiations which led to Hughes’ appointment.
