Manchester City has confirmed a partnership with training equipment company TRX, which will see the Barclays Premier League title chaser’s senior and academy players continue to use TRX equipment as part of their fitness regimes and tailored training programmes.
In addition to supplying the gym at the club’s new academy, which is set to open later this year, TRX will also collaborate with City on a series of strength conditioning publication pieces.
City players will also feature in a TRX promotional video as part of a digital and social marketing campaign.
Dr Sam Erith, City’s head of sports science, said of the deal: ‘Strength and conditioning forms an important part of our training programmes for all our squads.’
‘Players will work daily on individualised programmes with the goals of making key athletic movements more efficient and the body more resilient to the risk of injury.’
Manchester City are still considered favourites to claim this year’s Premier League title, sitting third in the table, four points behind leaders Liverpool – who extended a similar deal with TRX in 2012 – but with two games in hand.
Randy Hetrick, CEO and creator of the TRX Suspension Trainer, added: ‘TRX is proud to partner with Manchester City and we are excited to support their training needs with our ‘triple threat’ of product, education and programming.’
‘In just a few short years, TRX Training has become the choice of professional athletes across the world, in sports as diverse at football, rugby, MMA, basketball, triathlon, tennis and athletics. We’re excited to watch them compete at such a high level in the most prestigious football league in the world.’
