Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester United have agreed a fifth commercial deal of 2013, after announcing that Singha has signed a three-year extension to its role as the official beer partner of the club.

The deal continues a prolific January for the club’s commercial department, who could open the gap at the top of the table to seven points over rivals Manchester City with a win against Southampton tonight.

Singha’s new deal ties the company to United until 2016 and follows on from its initial three-year sponsorship.

Manchester United commercial director Richard Arnold said: ‘Singha celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2013 and what better way to commemorate this than to renew our successful relationship. Manchester United is delighted to be keeping Singha within its family of sponsors and looking forward to building on the fantastic achievements the partnership has created so far. I am confident the next three years will be just as positive.’

Earlier this week the Red Devils became the first sports team to pass the $3 billion valuation.

The Thai beer brand joins Japanese paint manufacturer Kansai, China Construction Bank (CCB), soft drinks manufacturer Wahaha and Indonesian tyre manufacturer Multistrada in United’s commercial portfolio. The latter four companies have all agreed new deals this month.
