Premier League club Manchester United has failed to reach its target of season ticket sales for the forthcoming season.??
The club’s chief executive David Gill has confirmed that the club sold 51,800 season tickets compared to the target of 54,000.??
However Gill insists that the figure is still ‘pretty good’ in the current climate and that the club’s finances are very healthy.??
Gill said: ‘We’ve sold more season tickets than the capacity of most Premier League grounds. Our executive seat sales are on track as compared with last year in a different market.’??
The tickets were on sale at a time when the fans’ group the Manchester United Supporters’ Trust (MUST) were urging a boycott in the hope of persuading American owners, the Glazer family, to sell the club.??
The focus of the protest surrounds the debts that stand at more than £700m – that includes a £500m bond scheme and £202m in payment in kind (PIK) loans.
