Manchester United look set to break the £100 million barrier for commercial revenue and will become the first Premier League club to do so.

Revenue has risen up to £24m over the first quarter of the accounting year, and media reports suggest that the second, up to 31st December, will be just as strong.

The last annual figures put the clubs commercial income to £81m, a growth of 16%.

Chief executive David Gill said: ‘our match day revenue is around 40% of our overall turnover, we are part of a great competition in the Premier League that continues to grow and the commercial sector has gone up from 20% to 30%. They are all high margins and will continue to give us the money Sir Alex Ferguson needs to keep the club at the top’.

Last week logistics company DHL became the latest company to agree an extended partnership with the club. http://www.sportindustry.biz/news/view/9220/dhl-and-man-utd-announce-tie-up
