Manchester United has granted Saudi Telecom the exclusive rights to launch the club’s dedicated MUTV channel in the Gulf region.

The deal comes almost a year after Saudi Telecom (STC) signed a five-year contract extension with the 20-time English champions.

The rights will see MUTV broadcast continuously in the Middle East, giving STC Invision subscribers access to behind-the-scenes footage of the club, documentaries and breaking news, as well as live commentary of every United match, including reserve and youth team games. The channel will also be broadcast in HD.

Manchester United group managing director Richard Arnold said: ‘Since forming our partnership in 2008, STC has demonstrated its expertise in developing and delivering outstanding products that meet the needs of our fans.’

‘By making MUTV available via its HD subscription channel to the almost four million Manchester United followers in the Middle East, STC is helping our fans to get closer to the club they love.’

After a slow start under new manager Louis Van Gaal, Manchester United have hit form recently to rise to fourth in the Barclays Premier League.
