Manchester City has announced a new partnership with Melco Resorts & Entertainment to become the Premier League club’s official partner in Japan.

Melco, which develops, owns and operates integrated resorts throughout Asia, Australia and Europe will also partner with fellow City Football Group (CFG) club Yokohama F. Marinos. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

Through the partnership, Melco will also become the community presenting partner of Yokohama F. Marinos to create and implement community programmes and events around the world.

Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco, said: “Building successful teams and successful partnerships have a lot in common. At Melco, we look for shared ambition and 21st century values. And in Manchester City and Marinos we have found perfect partners – businesses that excel at entertaining, whilst putting community first. Melco’s connections to Japan run deep, so being able to support grassroots community programmes across the country is an exciting opportunity for us all.”

Yokohama F. Marinos became part of the CFG family in May 2014. CFG acquired an undisclosed minority shareholding in the club from majority owner Nissan Motor Company. At the time, the deal marked the first significant foreign investment in a J-League team.
