Mark Cavendish, who claimed his first road race National Championship in Glasgow on Sunday, has launched his brand – CVNDSH – along with the first product to carry the new logo, the Specialized Venge race bike.

Launching the brand in London on Monday, the 28 year-old told Sport Industry TV: ‘It’s kind of a revamp of a brand that was already there, just bubbling under. My career has been successful for a few years now and I’ve built a good relationship with the partners I work with.’

‘From a sporting and a commercial point of view it makes sense to put my name to stuff…but I wouldn’t put my name to something that I didn’t believe in.

‘I also want to have an input. I want the product to be the best I can possibly make it. Aesthetics and ergonomics are really important to me.’

‘I’m proud of this bike, I’ve worked on this bike, and I’m proud to be able to put my name to it.’

The brand carries the colour of the Tour de France green jersey – which he won in 2011 – and will be targeting the prize once again over the next two weeks, where he will also be hoping to add to his current haul of 23 stage wins.

As well as a long-standing relationship with Specialized, the cyclist – who has been working on his brand development alongside his management company Wasserman Media Group – will also work on CVNDSH with component makers PRO, Oakley Sunglasses, sock-specialists Defeet and Nike.

Last year, Cavendish became the first athlete to take the stage at the Nolan Partners Sport Industry Breakfast Club, view the highlights and find out more about the exclusive members event here.
