The Marie Curie Etape Caledonia has announced that Boardman Bikes, the company founded by former Olympic champion and world record holder Chris Boardman, will be the official bike partner of the event in 2016.
Boardman launched Boardman Bikes in 2007 and the brand now sponsors riders and teams, winning multiple Olympic, World, European and National champion titles.
The company has also recently teamed up with Alpine Bikes, the biggest independent retailer in Scotland, alongside Halfords and other specialist retailers.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2016, the Marie Curie Etape Caledonia, which is organised by IMG, was the UK’s first ever closed road sportive.
Chris Boardman, CEO, Boardman Bikes commented: “The Marie Curie Etape Caledonia boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK, guaranteed, and it can all be enjoyed on fully closed roads. Combined with the warm and friendly hostelries of Pitlochry, it’s a unique and wonderful weekend for all the family.”
Andy Knee, managing director EMEA, mass participation sports, IMG, commented: “The Marie Curie Etape Caledonia is proud to be supported by fantastic partners who, along with the local communities of Perthshire, play a major role in making this iconic event such a major success. We’re delighted to be adding a cycling legend like Chris and his fantastic team at Boardman Bikes to that list of partners and are looking forward to working with them in 2016.”
