Mastercard Unveils Barbarians Marketing Push

MasterCard has unveiled a marketing campaign to promote its sponsorship of the Barbarians’ 2010 international rugby union matches through the launch of a national competition fronted by ex-England international Will Greenwood.

The competition named ‘Be Number 23′ will see a rugby fan become the 23rd Barbarians’ squad member ahead of the upcoming MasterCard Trophy clash against England on 30th May.

The winner will join the Barbarians squad for the entire week before the game, staying in the team hotel and eating, training and travelling with the players.

In addition to attending Barbarians events, including press conferences, gala dinners and post match celebrations, the winner will also sit with the Barbarians party during the match.

To enter, fans register at www.benumber23.co.uk/priceless where they will also have the chance to recreate a classic piece of Barbarians match footage that shows them scoring a try.

16 finalists will be chosen at random to enjoy a behind-the-scenes day at Twickenham with Will Greenwood, a MasterCard rugby ambassador, where the final winner will be chosen.

The competition opens on 17th March and closes on 19th April 2010.

MasterCard is also the title sponsor of the IRB Rugby World Cup 2011.
