Sports pub app, MatchPint, has partnered with Football Beyond Borders (FBB) to coincide with the first game of UEFA Euro 2016 on 10th June.
During the tournament, every time customers use the MatchPint app to check in at a pub, the company will donate 10p to the football charity. This check in activity will also earn punters points which are redeemable for rewards in 600 pubs, including things like 2 for 1 on pints of Carlsberg. Pub goers using the app will also enter a prize draw to win exclusive football memorabilia, including signed shirts, footballs, and books.
FBB is a registered UK charity that uses the power of football to inspire young people to achieve their goals both in the classroom and on the pitch. The FBB methodology combines football training sessions delivered by FA qualified coaches with mentoring and tutoring programmes focused on giving educational and employment support to young people in some of London’s most deprived estates and schools.
Mark Weston, head of sports fans at MatchPint, said: “We firmly believe in the ability of sport, and especially football, to provide a huge sense of shared enjoyment with the Euros being a massive social event for the entire continent. FBB share many of our views on the worth of community, collective experience and the ability of sport to empower. We’re excited to be bringing this message to pub goers across the country this summer and raising some money for a truly worthy cause in the process.”
Jasper Schlump, FBB’s head of partnerships, said: “We are delighted that MatchPint have chosen us as their charity partner and think this is a brilliant way of getting sports fans involved in transforming young people’s lives through football. There are millions of football fans who’ll be watching matches in pubs during the Euros and by using the MatchPint app they’ll be in with the chance of winning rewards whilst at the same time supporting our charity – at no cost to them! It’s a fantastic idea and we’re hugely thankful to MatchPint.”
