Boxing promoter, Matchroom Boxing, has announced a new partnership with ticketing marketplace, StubHub.
The partnership allows Matchroom to use StubHub as a platform to list primary face value tickets and will also be the official resale channel for boxing fans for fights with high ticket demand.
The agreement comes after a similar partnership that StubHub had with Matchroom talent and Olympic champion Anthony Joshua in 2014.
In addition to Joshua, the new partnership will now allow boxing fans to access tickets for fights in 2015 across the UK for British boxers including Carl Froch, Nathan Cleverly and Kell Brook.
The first tickets available on StubHub will be for ‘Capital Punishment’ at The O2 Arena on Saturday 31st January. The includes Anthony Joshua’s first fight of 2015 when he will defend his WBC International Heavyweight title against Kevin Johnson.
Nick Harford, StubHub’s director of partnerships, said: “StubHub is delighted to partner with Matchroom Boxing to become their official ticket marketplace. We are looking forward to being able to complement their business and help provide the best possible experience to boxing fans across the UK. The stable of boxing talent that Matchroom works with is unparalleled and it is a privilege for StubHub to play an important part in what will be a great year of boxing.”
Eddie Hearn, group managing director, Matchroom Sport added: “The partnership with StubHub will provide us with a first class platform in order to sell tickets to our upcoming fights. Transparency and security are of upmost importance to us which is why partnering with StubHub made complete sense. With an exciting year of boxing planned, working with StubHub will only ensure that more boxing fans across the UK will have the chance to witness fights live.”
