Cycling insurance brand, Yellow Jersey, has become an official partner of Matrix Fitness team for the 2015 season, who also confirmed the signings of London 2012 Olympians Lucy Martin and Laura Trott.
The new partnership will see the Yellow Jersey logo displayed on the team’s clothing, with all riders covered by Yellow Jersey insurance.
The team recently confirmed its application to join the highest ranks of women’s cycling with its UCI professional team registration in 2015.
Stefan Wyman, owner and manager of Matrix Fitness, commented: ‘This doesn’t only help us step forward on the bike, but also gives us the security of knowing our riders are insured correctly. This partnership is the start of our work to ensure our riders are treated as professionally as possible, on and off the bike.’
Discussions with Yellow Jersey reportedly began in July, during the Tour de France’s opening stages in the UK.
‘Yellow Jersey were keen to work with the team from the first moment we spoke, and we feel this is just the start of a long term relationship. With the rapidly increasing number of cyclists in the UK, and the obvious insurance needs, we feel Yellow Jersey and their products are an essential part of the growth of performance and recreational cycling,’ said Wyman.
Ryan Georgiades, Yellow Jersey managing director, added: ‘At Yellow Jersey we take pride in our name, we are not only a leading insurer, we are a part of the cycling community. Since starting the business, we have looked for opportunities to demonstrate our premium cycle insurance product, whilst investing in the sport we love. Our new partnership with the Matrix Fitness team allows us to do just that, and we’re excited about making their road to success as smooth as possible in 2015.’
Yellow Jersey will be at a number of events in the UK with the Matrix Fitness team, as they look to increase awareness of the need to be insured whilst racing and riding.
