UK Sport has announced a partnership with sports nutrition company Maxinutrition to develop range of bespoke products designed to optimise the performance of British athletes in the build-up to the 2012 Olympics.??
Ahead of the development of the products the partnership will open extensive research into the role that nutrition has in improving athletic performance through training.??
The research and innovation team from UK Sport, its various research partners and Maxinutrition’s new product development group will be working together to investigate how various nutrition interventions can be used to optimize the athlete’s training responses for better performance gain.??
They will be conducting systematic scientific trials on new combinations of ingredients with groups of highly trained performance athletes.
The technical and performance team from Maxinutrition have a long history of developing bespoke nutritional products for individual sponsors and teams.??
Technical and Performance Director, Dr Naomi Grant, said: ‘Having pioneered the drug screening programme for our products in 2002 we are keen to take sports nutrition to the next level and by working with UK Sport who are at the forefront of sporting success we can realize our goals.’??
Maxinutrition works with over 1,000 elite athletes, National Governing Bodies and professional sports teams including England Hockey, British Triathlon, British Judo, GB Weightlifting, the England and Wales Cricket Board, the Welsh Rugby Union as well as individuals such as European gymnastics champion Daniel Keatings, Euan Burton, Lee Byrne, Ugo Monye, Stuart Broad and Jermaine Jenas.
