The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, is set to tell the Olympic Board London’s plans for concerts, big screens and a pedestrian area, set around Trafalgar Square, during the 2012 Olympics.

Of the £9.32bn Olympic budget, £32m has been allocated to add to the atmosphere around London – away from the Olympic Park.

The four main live sites that will feature concert stages and big screens will be situated in Hyde Park, Victoria Park, Jubilee Gardens and Potter’s Gate.

Entry to the sites will be ticketed and planners hope the events will be funded by sponsors, without the need for public money.

The pedestrian area is set to link Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden and Leicester Square and is set to take up a large amount of the £32m.

Johnson will also tell the board of the plans to decorate the city during the Games with flags and iconic imagery.
