O2 has announced M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment as its new rugby sponsorship agency from this month, following a competitive tender process, and will be responsible for delivering O2’s England Rugby activation.
As part of the brief from the telecommunications company, the agency has been hired to introduce new thinking and innovation for its sponsorship delivery.
Gareth Griffiths, head of sports sponsorship at O2, said: ‘We renewed O2’s partnership with the RFU 12 months ago, so with three years remaining on the contract, this summer was the right time to review our agency support.’
‘After a highly competitive tender, we’re excited to be working with M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment, who showed us stand out creative thinking, backed up with strong digital and rugby expertise.’
The agency’s managing director, Jamie Wynne-Morgan, who will oversee the account, added: ‘We’re extremely proud to not only be working for one of the most dynamic brands in the UK but also to be helping to deliver one of the most successful partnerships in British sport. O2 has consistently produced fantastic work through their England Rugby property so it’s a big challenge to take an award-winning formula to even greater heights, but it’s a challenge we’re excited to be taking on.’
