Run Communications has announced its appointment by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) ahead of high-profile summer of cricket in England.

The agency will work alongside both the Media and Communications team and the Marketing, Brand and Digital team, at Lord’s providing strategic media and PR support across a remit of sporting and entertainment events.

The so-called ‘Home of Cricket’ is set to host a number of major matches this season, including the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Final, the second Specsavers Test between England and Australia, and the first ever Specsavers Test between England and Ireland.

Lord’s will also be the venue for the MCC World Cricket Committee in August, where prominent former international cricketers will join forces to discuss key issues facing cricket during a two-day meeting chaired by Mike Gatting.

Commenting on the appointment, Lauren Best, Head of Media and Communications, said: “Run Communications brings extensive knowledge across the sporting landscape and we were impressed with their understanding and response to brief.

“Cricket has an incredible year ahead and it is pivotal that MCC maximises this opportunity and engages people inside and outside of our sport, both domestically and around the world, to maintain our relevance and position as the finest cricket club in the world.”

Steve Chisholm, Managing Director of Run Communications, added: “MCC is an innovative and exciting organisation that is striving to bring cricket to an ever-broader audience whilst maintaining the global standards of the game. We are excited to be part of an incredible year ahead and working with such a passionate team.”

In addition to the elite action this summer, Lord’s will be the setting for the inaugural Street Child Cricket World Cup Final, welcoming ten teams of street-connected young people to play on the hallowed turf.

The summer will also see Michelin starred chefs Tommy Banks, Michael Caines and Raymond Blanc hosting Lord’s Dining Club events in the famous Long Room of the Grade II*-listed Pavilion, while England cricket icons such as Angus Fraser and Marcus Trescothick will entertain visitors in the Players’ Dining Room and on the outfield as part of two new tours.

The season will conclude with the start of work on the redevelopment of the Compton and Edrich stands, which flank the iconic J.P. Morgan Media Centre.
