The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has struck a deal that will see 2008 Indian Premier League champions the Rajasthan Royals take on the reigning English Twenty20 Cup champions Middlesex Panthers in a one-off charity match at Lord’s on 6th July.

The Twenty20 match, beginning at 4.30pm, will raise money for the British Asian Trust, one of the Prince of Wales’ charities, and marks further proof of a growing commercial relationship between English cricket and the IPL.

The day is designed to bring the ‘glamour of Bollywood’ to Lord’s in a celebration of the best of the Indian and English game and will feature Bollywood entertainment throughout the match.

The game will mark the debut of an IPL team competing on English shores and will see stars such as Shane Warne, Graeme Smith and Yusuf Pathan in action.

The organisers hope the combination of these stars, and a Bollywood extravaganza with Shilpa Shetty between innings, will attract not just members of London’s large Asian population but also families and schools to come to Lord’s and see the ground transformed for this historic match.

The organisers have also introduced a range of ticket incentives for spectators with adult tickets available for only £10 to those booking before the 12th June

Additionally, families booking two adults and one under 16 ticket will get another under 16 ticket free. Combined with the early booking discount, that is only £25 for a family of four when booked before the 12th June.

For schools and cricket clubs that purchase tickets, every eight children’s tickets bought will see one adult ticket included free.
