The MCC has announced that a new installation will be erected at Lord’s recognising 100 of the greatest milestones ever to take place at the Home of Cricket.

The Lord’s Father Time Wall will commemorate iconic sporting moments, but will also give supporters around the world the chance to buy a personalised plaque to commemorate their own significant moments and memories at Lord’s.

The Wall is named after the Father Time weathervane which stands between the Mound and Tavern stands since it was gifted to the MCC in 1926, and has overlooked many of the ground’s greatest moments.

According to the MCC, the move comes after the redevelopment of the Compton and Edrich stands, which the club says has presented it with a blank canvas in the form of the wall behind the Grand and Compton stands, where the new installation will be placed.

Guy Lavender, Chief Executive & Secretary, MCC, said: “We are hugely excited about the Lord’s Father Time Wall project. The installation will give a striking, physical presence to many of the greatest cricketing moments that have taken place at Lord’s, bringing to life the stories behind some of the most significant milestones for both the club and the ground.

“Whilst celebrating these many achievements, we are also giving supporters the unique opportunity to be among the first to feature on the wall, taking their own place in the Home of Cricket’s history.”

The sale of the plaques will help fund the project, as well as 5% of the proceeds of the sale going to the MCC Foundation to support its projects within cricket, both at home and abroad. Installation will commence in spring 2021.
