AP McCoy has been announced as an ambassador of the Stobart Jump Jockeys’ Championship for the 2015/16 season.
The former jockey, who won 20 successive Champion Jump Jockey titles, will work with Great British Racing and Stobart Group to help promote the current stars of the saddle.
First on McCoy’s agenda will be helping to select the design of the new Champion Jump Jockey trophy, after the previous cup was decommissioned and given to him on his retirement.
AP will sit on a panel that will decide the design of the trophy which will be presented to the 2015/16 Champion Jump Jockey at Sandown’s end-of-season finale on Saturday 23rd April, 2016.
AP McCoy said: “After the great ride this sport has given me over the past 20 years, I’m delighted to have been asked to be an ambassador for the season. I have been so lucky to share the weighing room with some fantastic personalities over the years and I’m really looking forward to helping promote the jump jockeys and highlighting what incredible athletes they are.”
McCoy said of his role on the panel: “I’m delighted to sit on the selection panel for the new Champion Jockey Trophy. I’m lucky enough to have been given the last trophy, so I’ll try and get some inspiration from that, and hopefully we can choose a nice design for the next generation of champions.”
