1,408 South African children will get to participate in the 2010 FIFA World Cup thanks to McDonald’s Player Escort Programme.

The programme is being promoted by ComutaNet with 30 full back branded busses running across KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape and the Eastern Cape.

McDonald’s will conduct a draw to select the children, aged 6-10, who will get the chance to walk onto the pitch at the World Cup Finals hand-in-hand with the players.

Orlando Pirates player Teko Modise is the ambassador of the McDonald’s South
Africa Player Escort program and will be making surprise phone calls to some of the winners.

McDonalds has been an official sponsor of the World Cup since the USA tournament in 1994.

They are also hosting other sponsorship programmes during the event such as the McDonald’s Fan Dancers program, which will see McDonalds selecting South African women to be cheerleaders at the matches.
