McLaren F1 has hired John Allert, the UK chief executive of marketing services
agency Interbrand, to become the team’s new group head of branding.

Allert will join McLaren F1 from the start of April where he will be
responsible for all branding and partnership management across all the team’s
business units in a newly created role.

Among his other responsibilities include increasing brand awareness of the
team’s SLR McLaren sports car and the firm’s other technology and electronic
sectors.

McLaren has been a client of Interbrand’s for the past two years.

Prior to becoming UK chief executive of Interbrand last year, Ellert had
served the same role for the agency in Australia before moving to the UK as
chief operations officer in 2003.
