McLaren Racing has announced a new partnership with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) for a new fundraising challenge – Do It 4 Youth.

The team will join forces with the youth programme to encourage ‘people of all ages and abilities’ to team up with friends, family, and colleagues this summer to complete four DofE inspired challenges in four weeks, with the money raised supporting young people.

The pair say the aims behind the challenges are ‘core values’ shared by both McLaren and the DofE: resilience, teamwork, and mental wellbeing.

To help raise money, McLaren will put up for auction two VIP passes to the 2022 British Grand Prix, including behind-the-scenes access to the team and full hospitality, a tour of the paddock and McLaren garage, and a meet-and-greet with the McLaren Formula 1 drivers.

This year’s British Grand Prix will also see the McLaren car – driven by Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo – carry the DofE’s logo across the race weekend, from 16th – 18th July.

The funds raised through the campaign, meanwhile, will enable more young people across the UK to take part in the programme as part of the DofE’s five-year plan to get a million more young people from the communities ‘hardest-hit’ by the pandemic to take part.

“We’re really pleased that McLaren Racing is supporting the Do It 4 Youth campaign for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award this summer,” said Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in the UK.

“The partnership is another great example of the power of the Women in Business Committee, who work on behalf of the Award to raise awareness and fundraise for the charity. As an elite sports team, resilience, teamwork and self-belief are at the core of what McLaren does to perform at the highest level.”

Zak Brown CEO, McLaren Racing, added: “We are delighted to be working with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to help raise awareness and funds for the incredible work they do with young people, work that has never been more vital.

“Young people across the UK are struggling to cope post-lockdown, and the DofE Award is a powerful way for any young person to build belief in themselves. We want to help raise £1 million for young people from the toughest backgrounds to gain the confidence, skills, and experience they need to overcome whatever life throws their way.

“We’d love our fans to get involved in their own ‘Do It 4 Youth’ challenge this summer and raise money to help make a real difference to the lives of young people by giving them new opportunities to fulfil their potential through the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
