Sport Industry Socials is an exciting new series of informal networking opportunities happening throughout 2022. Each event will focus on trending topics and is ideal for anyone who wants to expand their knowledge and network at the same time.

The second Sport Industry Socials event of the year, ‘The Legacy of Award-Winning Campaigns’, will take place on Thursday 8th September at the Everyman Cinema in Broadgate.

We will look back at some of the most memorable UK campaigns over the last decade, examining the lasting legacy that they’ve left within sport, how they’ve influenced wider society, and any lessons that can be learned.

From the taboo-tackling ‘This Girl Can’ to the ever-present ‘Rainbow Laces’, we will hear the first-hand stories from those that were closest to each campaign’s inception in a TED-talk style format, all in the comfort of a chic cinema setting.

The next speaker to join the conversation is Jody Cundy CBE, who will represent We Are Superhumans. The Channel 4 advertising campaign was launched ahead of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games as part of the broadcasters ‘Year of Disability’ and was the follow up to the ‘Meet the Superhumans’ campaign of London 2012.

With his wealth of paralympic experience Jody will be able to speak about the lasting impact the campaign has had for so many athletes, and its contribution to society as a whole.

Jody became the first British male athlete to win medals at seven consecutive Paralympic Games at Tokyo 2020, an achievement that included two Paralympic titles in Rio.

Jody commented, “Having been part of the Paralympics GB team for the last 26 years I have witnessed first-hand the change in perception of Paralympic sport and the role that Channel 4’s advertising campaigns have had in raising awareness of the Paralympic movement.

“I look forward to talking about my experiences as an athlete and my roles in the campaigns.”

At present, attendance to Sport Industry Socials events is only open to Sport Industry Members.
