Sport Industry Socials is an exciting new series of informal networking opportunities happening throughout 2022. Each event will focus on trending topics and is ideal for anyone who wants to expand their knowledge and network at the same time.
The second Sport Industry Socials event of the year, ‘The Legacy of Award-Winning Campaigns’, will take place on Thursday 8th September at the Everyman Cinema in Broadgate.
We will look back at some of the most memorable UK campaigns over the last decade, examining the lasting legacy that they’ve left within sport, how they’ve influenced wider society, and any lessons that can be learned.
From the taboo-tackling ‘This Girl Can’ to the ever-present ‘Rainbow Laces’, we will hear the first-hand stories from those that were closest to each campaign’s inception in a TED-talk style format, all in the comfort of a chic cinema setting.
The first speaker to join the discussion is Sport England’s Director of Marketing Kate Dale. Kate has been with Sport England since 2004 and worked as the Campaign Director for This Girl Can, the multi-award-winning campaign which set out to change the way millions of people think about exercise and physical movement, promoting sport amongst women.
Launched in 2015, This Girl Can has inspired nearly 4 million women and counting. Its success was underlined in 2016 when it was named the Sport Industry Awards Campaign of the Year.
Kate commented, “Leading This Girl Can has been a transformative experience – professionally and personally – and I’m really looking forward to sharing what we learned at the new Sport Industry Socials. This isn’t the A-Z of how to set up a campaign, but the inside story of what it took to make it happen and keep happening nearly eight years later.”
At present, attendance to Sport Industry Socials events is only open to Sport Industry Members.
