Meridian Foods, a producer of nut butters, has announced Wasps captain and England rugby player, James Haskell, will join Olympic hockey gold medallist Alex Danson as its first sporting ambassadors.
The appointments of the sporting stars come at a time when, according to the brand, sales of nut butter in the UK are at an all-time high.
Commenting on their appointment, Sue McIntosh, head of marketing at Meridian Foods, said: “James and Alex are the perfect fit for our brand. As high profile, elite athletes, they’ll be helping us to increase awareness about the massive benefits of nut butter as a healthy, natural source of protein and energy for anyone involved in sports and physical activity.”
James Haskell commented: “Anyone that follows me on social media knows that I’m a huge fan of nut butters. They’re a great source of natural energy and are perfect for incorporating into healthy recipes. I’m really looking forward to working with Meridian and helping encourage people to adopt healthier eating and lifestyles.”
Alex Danson added: “Fueling your body with the right foods before and after exercise is essential, especially when you’re training more than once a day as we do in the GB & England Hockey squads.
“After a really tough workout, it can be so tempting to grab something sugary to eat that isn’t nutritious, but Meridian nut butters and bars provide a fantastic, fast, healthy alternative. I’m thrilled to be part of Meridian’s campaign to motivate people to eat foods that make them feel good and taste great too.”
Meridian makes 100% nut and seed butters and uses no palm oil or additives.
