Microsoft has confirmed that it is in talks with Real Madrid over a naming rights deal for the club’s iconic Bernabeu stadium.
Reports last month suggested the club was in negotiations with various brands with the head of Microsoft’s Spanish division confirming those reports in an interview with Spanish media this week: ‘The issue of the stadium has been put to us, as well as other companies. We have excellent relations with Real Madrid. They are using our technology and that makes us very proud.’
Emirates are also rumoured to be in discussions with the club over a potential deal. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is eager to reduce the club’s estimated £455m of debt while also pushing ahead with plans to expand the stadium’s capacity to 90,000.
