Mitre and the Football League have teamed up to support the Movember charity campaign, which will see the new Mitre Delta V12S Fluo football debut this weekend with a “Mo” all of its own.
Each year, Movember challenges men to grow moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness and funds for beneficiaries including The Football League’s Official charity partner, Prostate Cancer UK.
The new football will be provided to all 72 Football League clubs for their first matches of Movember and will feature in the 34 Sky Bet Football League matches that kick-off on Saturday including Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Birmingham City and AFC Bournemouth vs Brighton & Hove Albion, both broadcast live on Sky Sports.
Carl Davies, managing director of Mitre, commented: ‘We are pleased to have this unique opportunity to promote Movember with The Football League. We hope the ‘Mo’ featuring on our new Mitre Delta V12S match ball will raise awareness amongst the football community of this important charity and encourage both players and fans to take part.’
JC, Movember co-founder said: ‘We are delighted to have the support of the Football League, Mitre and all 72 Football League clubs to help kick-off Movember. Placing a Mo on the official match ball will help raise awareness of men’s health both on the pitch and in the stands as well as inspire football fans all over the country to sign up and grow a moustache this Movember.’
Football League chief executive Shaun Harvey added: ‘This is another excellent example of Football League partners coming together to help promote a fantastic cause. The arrival of the Fluo balls is a staging post in the Football League season. It is great to be able to mark the first weekend of the new footballs and the start of Movember in this way.’
The football will be used in Sky Bet Football League matches from November until the end of February, due to its high visibility in darker conditions.
