Boxing, MMA, and fitness brand Everlast Worldwide has signed a multi-year equipment and apparel deal with Leah McCourt, who becomes the brand’s first female athlete on an an apparel deal in the UK.
The 28-year-old Northern Irish MMA star, who fights with the Bellator promotion, currently holds a 4-1-0 pro record. Known as ‘The Curse’, she trains with Conor McGregor’s striking coach Owen Roddy at the Straight Blast Gym Charlestown in Dublin.
In February, McCourt became the first female in MMA history to headline an event in Europe when she defeated Judith Ruis at the 3Arena in Dublin, before her scheduled fight against Janay Harding at Wembley Arena in May was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
She said of the deal: “It is a dream come true to sign with the most iconic brand in combat and I am proud to be continuing to make history.
“We have some exciting ideas in the pipeline and I cannot wait to bring them to life and to continue changing the game.”
