Following the November terror attacks in Mumbai, the alternative venue in Mohali for England’s second Test against India has been given security clearance to stage the game.

The move to the northern city in the Punjab region was made due to the turmoil in Mumbai, causing tension within the England team, who were in India at the time for their one-day series, the remainder of which was cancelled.

The location switch comes on the heels of many unusual and unexpected changes for the England team leading up to the Test.

They practiced in Abu Dhabi before traveling to India and have received an unprecedented amount of security. 5,000 police officers including 300 highly trained commandos, as well as undercover armed officers on the ground have been assigned to protect the players.
