John Fleck has become the ninth player to object to his contract switching to the new Rangers, with midfielder Jamie Ness also agreeing a move elsewhere – although Kyle Hutton has become the third player to announce he will stay on at the stricken club.

Hutton has joined Lee McCulloch and Lee Wallace in committing himself to the club despite their uncertain future.

The new Rangers are facing the prospect of being refused entry to the SPL and could be playing in Division One – or even starting over again in the Third Division – should they be forced to apply to the Scottish Football League.

It is expected that the newco Rangers will be refused admittance to the Scottish Premier League, after six clubs announced they will vote against the application. Rangers require an 8-4 majority in the vote on 4th July to transfer their share in the league to Charles Green’s newco.

St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Inverness announced their opposition on Monday, following Hearts, Dundee United and Hibernian decision last week.

Jamie Ness, who graduated from the Rangers youth sides to the first team, is expected to join Stoke City, and Sone Aluko, Steven Davis, John Fleck, Kyle Lafferty, Rhys McCabe, Allan McGregor, Steven Naismith and Steven Whittaker have joined Ness in legally challenging the proposed transfer of their contracts to Green’s newco.

Rangers were forced into administration in February over an unpaid tax bill and failure to secure a CVA (company voluntary arrangement).
