David Morgan, chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board, is set to become
the president of the International Cricket Council next year according to
reports.

The Welshman is expected to be confirmed as taking over from existing ICC
president Ray Mali following a meeting of the governing body’s officials later
this week.

Morgan had been vying with India’s Sharad Pawar to replace Mali who took on
the acting presidential duties in the short-term following the death of Percy
Conn last month.

However it is believed a compromise has been reached which will see Morgan in
charge until 2010 with Pawar taking on the mantle after that point.

The 69-year old Morgan has been ECB chairman since January 2003, having
previously held a similar role with county side Glamorgan following a career in
the steel industry.
