The Australian Open final between Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic drew in a peak audience of 4.3 million viewers.
The final, shown live on BBC One on Sunday morning, had an average of 3.5 million viewers tuning in between 8.15am and midday.
However, the figures are down from the 2009 final, when Murray lost to Federer in straight sets, which had an average of 4.1 million and peaked at 5.9 million.
Murray lost the match in straight sets to a classy performance from Djokovic – and Britain’s 75-year wait for a male tennis grand slam winner continues.
