Wimbledon champion Andy Murray, who begins his defence of the US Open on Wednesday night against Michael Llodra, has agreed a deal with sports medicine brand Fuse Science.

The 26-year-old Scot will use and promote the company’s range of engineered vitamin and mineral products, and will also receive an equity stake in the company as part of the deal.

The US Open, Wimbledon and Olympic champion joins Tiger Woods on Fuse Science’s endorsement roster.

Fuse Science founder Adam Adler said: ‘Andy is one of the top three tennis players in the world right now. The fact that he chose Fuse Science to partner with shows the efficacy of our products.’

Murray must wait until the night session of day three to begin his US Open title defence – and hope the weather does not intervene – with the forecast suggesting thunderstorms will threaten the New York area.

The Wimbledon champion’s opening match will begin Wednesday’s night session at 7pm local time [00:00 BST, Thursday], with the Scot facing the prospect of going into day four having not completed his first match.
