Clubs in the National League have voted to end the season at its current point, though a decision is yet to be made on promotions and relegations.

National League clubs were asked to support an ordinary resolution to end the season on 9th April.

The league says that, with almost 90% of responses returned, a clear majority of clubs are in favour of the decision across each of the National League’s divisions.

Michael Tattersall, CEO, National League, said, “At a time when the entire country is wrestling with the devastating impact of covid-19, the cancellation of the remaining normal season matches brings a degree of certainty to our clubs coping with the business implications of the virus.”

The league says that its Board has chosen to communicate the decision now that the ordinary resolution has passed, despite the fact that not all responses have been received, noting that the remaining responses will not change the outcome. It also says it will enable clubs to make business decisions with greater clarity as soon as possible.

The sporting outcomes of the 2019/20 season, including promotion and relegation, ‘remain under careful and timely consideration’, according to the league, with further updates to be given in due course.
