Nationwide and The FA have launched a new initiative to support the pair’s Respect Campaign, which aims to make grassroots football a more positive place.
The new Mutual Respect Awards will see members of the public from across England nominate their ‘grassroots respect hero’ – a player, coach, team, parent or referee – on Nationwide’s Facebook page as the building society looks to engage with one million parents and coaches as part of its three-year partnership with The FA.
To launch the campaign, England international stars Tyrone Mings and Fran Kirby starred in a new social media film, encouraging fans to nominate their grassroots heroes.
Do you know someone who’s gone over & above to increase respect in grassroots football? Nominate your Grassroots Respect Hero on our Facebook page & you’ll be in with a chance of winning some great prizes! Closes 19 Jan. Nationwide says it aims to create a 12-person dream team of Mutual Respect winners over 2021 – picking one winner per month – who will celebrate ‘the successes that can be achieved together and improving attitudes within the game.’
Each month the winner will receive a trophy and tickets to an upcoming England game once fans return to stadiums, as well as a signed England shirt.
The award nominations will be selected by a panel of Nationwide officials along with an independent judge.
