The National Basketball Association has announced a number of organisational changes in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) headquarters in London, with immediate effect.

Elsa Memmi has been appointed NBA Vice President, Global Media Distribution – EMEA, and will be responsible for overseeing the media distribution business across the region. Elsa previously held the position of Associate Vice President, Global Media Distribution – EMEA.

Marc Armstrong will expand his current role as NBA Vice President, Global Marketing Partnerships and Emerging Markets – EMEA and will continue leading marketing partnerships for the region, while also taking on the additional responsibilities of oversight of business operations for Turkey and Russia.

Chus Bueno was named NBA Managing Director, Spain and Vice President, Basketball Business Operations – EMEA. His expanded responsibilities will include all basketball business operations for the NBA across EMEA, in addition to leading the NBA’s business in Spain based in Madrid.

Memmi, Armstrong, and Bueno will absorb responsibilities from Dan Markham who will be departing the NBA in June. They will report to Benjamin Morel, NBA Senior Vice President, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

‘Elsa, Marc, and Chus each have a proven track record of success and will play key roles in the further growth of our business in the region,’ said Morel. ‘I want to take this opportunity to thank Dan for his outstanding contribution and wish him success for the future.’

The news comes days after the New York Knicks confirmed a return to London for a regular season game against the Milwaukee Bucks at The O2 on 15th January, as part of the NBA Global Games 2015.

In an announcement made by the NBA and Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), the game is one of two regular-season games the NBA will stage internationally as part of the 2014/15 season, with a game also set to take place in Mexico City between the Houston Rockets and the Minnesota Timberwolves in November.
