The 2010 NBA pre-season game to be staged at The O2 Arena in London on 4th October, and featuring the Los Angeles Lakers against the Minnesota Timberwolves, has sold out in record time.
The NBA Europe Live game, presented by EA SPORTS, is the fourth consecutive pre-season exhibition game that the US sport league has hosted in London.
Along with the excitement of the game on the court, the NBA will host a variety of interactive family events in London so that fans can live and feel the NBA experience.
In addition, the Lakers and Timberwolves, together with the NBA, will conduct a variety of community events and programs in London as part of its NBA Cares initiative.
EA SPORTS – the presenting partner of the tour since 2006 – and adidas will conduct a series of free interactive fan events that will help bring fans in London closer to the game.
During the event, adidas, which returns as a pan-European partner of Europe Live for the fifth consecutive year, will launch the company’s new rights to produce NBA on-court uniforms and apparel in Europe. ESPN, The Daily Mirror, and Thomas Cook Sport will join as official NBA partners in the UK.
This will be the Lakers’ first international trip since playing in Paris in 1991.The Timberwolves are making their second trip to London as part of NBA Europe Live, having previously played against the Boston Celtics in 2007, also at The O2.
Following the game in London, the Timberwolves will travel to Paris to face the New York Knicks, while the Lakers will play the newly crowned 2010 Euroleague Champions Regal FC Barcelona in Spain on 7th October.
London has previously hosted nine NBA teams since 1993, including the Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic (1993), the Houston Rockets (1995), the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves (2007), the Miami Heat and New Jersey Nets (2008), and the Chicago Bulls and Utah Jazz (2009).
