The National Football League has announced changes to its international set-up ahead of the International Series in London this autumn, with British national Mark Waller – previously chief marketing officer – taking on an enhanced role as Executive Vice-President, International.

As chief marketing officer, Waller had been responsible for overseeing the international team, as well as all marketing activity for the NFL. His new role will now see him drive forward the League’s plans for international growth.

‘Since the NFL first played at Wembley in 2007, international growth has been an increasing priority for the League,’ said Waller.

‘I am very excited about the opportunity to focus full-time on accelerating our development outside the US and capitalising on the momentum we have established in recent years. Playing three games at Wembley this year shows the NFL’s commitment to international growth, as do events such as NFL on Regent Street.’

The NFL is heading to London for three regular season games as part of the eighth year of NFL International Series this autumn. Having increased from one to two games in 2013, all tickets made available for the three games in 2014 have already sold out.

The 2014 series kicks off with the Oakland Raiders hosting the Miami Dolphins on September 28.  The Atlanta Falcons-Detroit Lions game on October 26 will be a historic first Sunday morning kick-off in the US (1:30pm. UK time; 9:30am), while the Jacksonville Jaguars play the second game in their four-year commitment to the UK when they face the Dallas Cowboys on November 9.

The BT Sport Industry Award-winning NFL on Regent Street will return on Saturday, September 27 as a curtain-raiser to the first NFL International Series games the following day.

Almost 600,000 attended last year’s event, which saw Regent Street closed to traffic from Oxford Circus to Piccadilly Circus as one of London’s most famous landmarks became an all-day NFL fan festival.
